Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 14 September 2026

These terms govern your use of WhatAmI (“we”, “us”) — the website at whatami.me, the embeddable detection tag, and our mobile and desktop apps (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service does

The Service estimates connection and device integrity — whether a connection appears to use a VPN, proxy, or automation, how identifiable a browser is, and whether a device shows signs of proxyware or relay software. Results are probabilistic estimates for informational and fraud-prevention purposes, not statements of fact about any person.

2. No warranty on accuracy

Detection is inherently uncertain. A verdict may be a false positive or a false negative. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. You must not treat a verdict as a sole basis for a consequential decision about a person without independent review.

3. Acceptable use

4. Intellectual property

The Service, including its detection logic, code, and content, belongs to WhatAmI and is protected by law. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service as intended; no other rights are granted.

5. Privacy

Our handling of data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, WhatAmI is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on a verdict, from decisions made using the Service, or from its unavailability. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

7. Indemnity

If you embed the tag or otherwise use the Service in your own product, you agree to indemnify WhatAmI against claims arising from your use, including your handling of your visitors’ or users’ data.

8. Changes & termination

We may update the Service or these terms; the “last updated” date reflects the current version, and material changes will appear here. We may suspend access that violates these terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live remain unaffected.
